Man is the social animal. He needs people around him and he
actually wants to have a feeling of being surrounded by individuals. As he is
social, he wanted someone to share his intellectual information with.
For that, he invented language. He knew that, his skill of communication
satisfies his need of sharing intellectual aspects of his personality with
people. Do we all think the same way, according to above statement? No. Even
if we all are humans, we are all different. Because, we have grown up carrying
some thought process and we have different background.
Some people are introverts, some are extroverts. As we all
know, extroverts are the individuals who feel very comfortable when it comes to
sharing their thoughts and ideas with the people. Exactly opposite to this happens
with introverts. It doesn’t mean that they are antisocial species. They are
neither from another planet nor do they like to express much. They are the
individuals, who like to keep it personal. They are the ones who are
comfortable with a few people around them. Being an introvert, you have to face
as many hurdles as you face while solving mathematical equations.
In personal life, there are people who actually know you and
don’t misunderstand your silence. But when it comes to your professional life,
you have to talk as you all sail in the same boat. If you carry your introvert
nature in your professional life, it can affect your career in a long run.
To overcome this
situation, one needs to follow some rules:
- Talk often to the people you are comfortable with
- Create your own network of people
- Try not to avoid people
- Try to talk to strangers
- If you cannot gel with people easily, be a formal communicator
- Understand the fact that communication is the bridge to reach the desired goal in business
- Even if you don’t like communicating with people, make sure that you don’t sound arrogant
- It is the tool to understand the person
- As an introvert, understanding the person is the base of creating rapport for you
Pros of communication:
- When you run your own business, you need to be vocal as people around you are true advertisers and marketers of your business.
- Through your communication, you can build good relationships beyond the business.
- As a businessman or business woman, you need to understand that it’s always about ‘giver’s gain’.
- Not only for business but for your personal growth as well, you should try and achieve expertise in your communication skills.
- This can definitely help you. You cannot be extrovert overnight but you can take a step further in your journey!
