Discretion: A way to be closer to divinity

Literature of Samartha Ramdas Swami deals with the Philosophy through real life incidences. It is all about attaining spiritual goal by keeping balance between your life and your thoughts. Samartha Ramdas Swami backs the principle which tells about keeping balance between thoughts and actions. “बोले तैसा चाले, त्याची वंदावी पाऊले.” This is what we usually say in Marathi. In his 10thshloka, Samartha guides mind to love Shree Ramachandra so much that it should become your habit. He asks mind to leave all the pleasures and desires of life behind and keep going ahead on the path of Shree Rama.
Whatever sorrows we have in life, we shouldn’t feel bad for having them. These sorrows make us remind our God. So one should feel good for having problems in life, because when we have problems, those problems remind us of our aim. These problems encourage us to try more to achieve our goal. Our real life goal is that divine power. Whenever problems we have in the path of attaining our real life goal, just make our mind remind that whatever happening is for the betterment only. These problems work as a medium to continuously remind us of our aim. In the same way, problems in spiritual life are disturbance, lack of concentration, desires, selfishness and many more and these problems make us remind that we are being distracted and our real aim is Prabhu Shree Ramchandra, who is Aatma, Aatmaram, Parmatma and the divine power.

When would our mind be able to attain this understanding? When would it be able to walk the path of divinity? It would behave the way we want when it would practice discretion that is “Vivek”. Discretion is the ability to behave in such a way, that no one would get offended. It is the ability to behave and talk in a polite manner. When we attain this ability, we would definitely be closer to the God. Because, here God or aim means what we want to achieve in life. When we have the quality of politeness, this quality would take us closer to the people around us and it would help us to achieve our aim. Samartha asks us to adopt that discretion and live life according to that. He asks us to keep in mind the importance of discretion and make it a part of our lifestyle.

Glorious History Of Ayurveda

India is a country where one will find many surprising yet very realistic traditional aspects of life. Sometimes we Indians fail to appreciate what we have as a traditional treasure. When we see what we have and appreciate its importance, we actually honor it. We have four Vedas. 1] Rugveda  2] Yajurveda  3] Samveda  4] Atharvaveda. Each of these Vedas has its own specialty. But do you know that there is one more Veda which is directly connected to our well-being? And that too, physical as well as mental? That Veda is Ayurveda.
The fourth veda that is Atharvaveda is about Health. So, Ayurveda is hence considered as Upveda of Atharvaveda. In Atharvaveda, we find that it consists of various aspects of our body and mind. It is the first Health Science. It consists of bodily activities related to health like, blood circulation, digestion, respiration, reproduction etc. It is composed in a way that one can easily understand the fact that mind and body are interlinked.
Ayurveda has a great history and it can be seen in the world’s greatest historical Indian epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. In these Epics we find the names of jadibutis and a few trees which are used in Ayurveda for medicinal uses. We easily find names like ‘Sanjivani’, ‘Ashoka’. We find references of ‘Jvara’, ‘Tamasik’, ‘Rajasik’, ‘Satvik’ gunas of body in Mahabharata. We have many references of poisons and its remedies too in Mahabharata.
Ashwini Kumar, was a Deva Vaidya (Physician of Gods) who was the master in Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a natural science. It has proven always that it treats human beings without any side effects. It is a good food for thought that one should make Ayurveda and its medicinal uses a way of life to live a healthy life. This earth is the mother of living beings. As long as we use her resources to heal ourselves, we would never face any difficulty in the journey of being healthy.

Be your own best friend

Friend is someone who always be with you no matter what life serves in your plate. He is the one who knows the inner self of you, which you hide from the world. We all need such friend who would be with us in every situation. We constantly search for such friend in our life. But when that friend hurts us, we feel more helpless and blame the friendship. But there are a few people who never complain and never demand. What makes them like this? They actually have understood the concept of loving their real self and accepting it.
Let me tell you one thing that when you have an ability to accept your own fears and deficiencies, you won’t find it any difficult to be 'yourself' around anyone. What is the real concept of friendship? Friendship is about being able to stand by our friend’s side. It is what we expect from friendship. Do we really expect nothing in the friendship?? No, we expect because we have the sense of being surrounded by the people who love us for what we are.
If we want to be accepted, why don’t we expect it from ourselves? Because we are not comfortable enough to be a friend of our own self. What could be done to achieve this friendship? We should share everything about our thoughts as well as about others to our inner self. We should spend some time with our real self in order to understand our mind. It is not that difficult and also not that easy! It is a bit complex process. Firstly, we should stop thinking that, “Spending time with self, will be boring because, I would be all alone.” We should think that it would be fun and my mind is with me.
When your energetic mind is with you, how could you be alone? Give it a thought and make your life a beautiful journey of understanding your real self. It would definitely help you grow eternally as well as spiritually. Moreover it keeps you positive and keeps the anxiety, depression away from you. Because when you understand yourself better you become satisfied with the life you live.
